5 Key Sensors That Impact Your Car's Fuel Efficiency

1๏ธโƒฃ Oxygen Sensor

This sensor tracks unburned oxygen in exhaust gases. If it malfunctions, your car might run too rich or too lean, wasting fuel and reducing efficiency.

2๏ธโƒฃ Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor

The MAF sensor measures incoming air. Faulty readings disrupt the air-fuel balance, leading to incomplete combustion and higher fuel consumption.

3๏ธโƒฃ Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

The TPS monitors the throttle valve's position. If it's off, your engine's efficiency takes a hit due to inaccurate air-fuel adjustments.

4๏ธโƒฃ Fuel Pressure Sensor

This sensor ensures proper fuel pressure. Errors can cause an imbalance in the fuel-to-air ratio, affecting performance and fuel economy.

5๏ธโƒฃ Temperature Sensor

By monitoring coolant temperature, this sensor helps optimize combustion. Faulty readings can lower fuel efficiency and strain the engine.

Mufflers and Exhaust
1. What is a muffler?
A muffler is a device that is part of your vehicleโ€™s exhaust system. The function of a muffler is to reduce the amount of noise that comes from your vehicleโ€™s engine. The design of the muffler includes steel pipes with chambers inside that have been tuned like an instrument to reflect and cancel most of the noise coming from your engine.
2. What are the benefits of using a high performance muffler?
Not only do high performance mufflers reduce the amount of noise your car makes, they also help increase the efficiency, power output and the performance of your engine. High performance mufflers reduce the amount of back pressure in the exhaust system allowing the engine to work more efficiently. If you really want to give your vehicle a jump start, you should choose a muffler pipe that is larger in diameter and has better air intake like a โ€œcold air intakeโ€ style.
3. What types of mufflers are there?

Exhaust

Some of our products include: FlowMaster
Dynomax
Magnaflow
4. How do I know which type of muffler will be best for me?
Most people donโ€™t have a lot of knowledge about mufflers which is why most people feel a little confused and overwhelmed when choosing a muffler for their vehicle. That is where we come in. We have the knowledge and skills to best help you make your decision. We take the time to find out which type of muffler will more than meet your needs. We want our customers to know that we are here and eager to answer any question or concern you may have.
5. How do I know if I need to repair or replace my muffler?
That is a good question. If your muffler is leaking, been bent or become rusted, chances are it is time for it to be replaced. We are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the condition of your muffler.

Transmission at CARS Complete Auto Repair Service in Utah

Transmission fluid is a slippery liquid that acts as a lubricant for all of the moving parts inside your transmission. In an automatic transmission, this fluid also serves as a coolant and a viscous fluid that transmits power from the engine to the transmission.
Changing automatic transmission fluid is best left to a mechanic equipped with a transmission flusher, like this which replaces the fluid more thoroughly than you could achieve with gravity alone.
A variety of fluids are used for different transmissions. Automatic transmissions use automatic transmission fluid. Manual transmissions use a variety of oils: regular motor oil, heavyweight hypoid gear oil or even automatic transmission fluid in some cases. Your owner's manual will tell you what your transmission calls for.
Whether you have a manual or an automatic transmission. Manual: Most manufacturers recommend that manual transmission fluid be changed every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Under heavy-duty use, some manufacturers suggest changing transmission fluid every 15,000 miles.
Automatic: Service intervals for an automatic transmission vary from every 30,000 miles. The typical service interval is 60,000 to 100,000 miles. Changing it more often does no harm.
Why should you do this?
Manual: In a manual transmission, the problem is not so much the fluid degradation, but rather fluid contamination. This contamination occurs over time as the synchronizers, bearings and gears in the transmission wear out. The resulting metal particles then float around in the lubricant. And we all know that oil with microscopic particles of metal in it does not lubricate as well as clean oil. So if these contaminants are not drained out, they will shorten the life of your transmission.
Automatic: Because more heat is generated in an automatic transmission, automatic transmission fluid actually degrades and breaks down with use.
In addition, like in a manual transmission, automatic transmission fluid will also become contaminated with worn bits of the transmission. If these contaminants are not drained out, they will shorten the life of your transmission.
What happens if you don't do this?http://www.carsbellingham.comhttps://www.carsbellingham.com
If you don't change the transmission fluid on schedule, you'll be lubricating your transmission with metal shavings and other contaminants. This will shorten the transmission's life. In other words, changing your transmission fluid at the correct interval is a good investment.
Is there any maintenance required between intervals?
Automakers have gotten better in recent years about labeling or color-coding dipsticks. The ring on the right is red to match the automatic transmission fluid, the level of which this dipstick measures. The yellow ring is clearly marked "engine oil."
Yes, It's important to regularly check the transmission fluid level between service intervals. Letting your car run low on transmission fluid can cause the transmission to shift improperly โ€” or not at all. It also can harm the internal parts of your transmission, which will not be properly lubricated. Unfortunately, you may not hear any noises or have other clues that your transmission is low on fluid, until it's too late. So it's important to get it checked.
Here's how you can check your transmission fluid level:
Manual: Checking the transmission fluid in a manual transmission can be difficult. A few thoughtful manufacturers have included a dipstick, but that's the exception rather than the rule. If you own a car with a manual transmission, we suggest that you ask your mechanic to check the fluid level when your car is up on the lift during an oil change. It takes just a minute.
Automatic: If you own a car with an automatic transmission, your car will have a dipstick for this purpose. Be careful not to make the common mistake of confusing the transmission dipstick with the crankcase dipstick.

Mufflers and Exhaust System at CARS Complete Auto Repair Service Utah

What is it?
Your carโ€™s exhaust system has come a long way from the old days of exhaust pipes and mufflers.
Today, the exhaust system is safety and emissions control rolled into one.
Have your carโ€™s exhaust system inspected regularly and check it immediately if you suspect any problems.

What does it do? The exhaust system routes dangerous exhaust gas from the engine out and away from the car to keep from affecting the occupants.

Next, the exhaust system reduces exhaust noise from the engine. The catalytic converter reduces the level of harmful pollutants in the exhaust. The oxygen sensors mounted in the exhaust system monitor the level of oxygen in the exhaust gases to maintain efficient engine operation and to monitor the converterโ€™s operation.
Typical Wear and Tear Maintain a safe car with regular exhaust system checks.

Factors that affect replacement requirements include:
โ€ขDriving habits (short trips take their toll on exhaust system life)
โ€ขRoad conditions (salt, road spray, bumps) โ€ขVehicle type
โ€ขAge of exhaust system parts Symptoms โ€ขLoud noise
โ€ขRattling noise when starting, accelerating or braking
โ€ขDrowsiness while driving โ€ขRotten eggs smell.
That being said:  Stay safe on the roads and when you need help Call

TRANSMISSION SERVICE Repairing or replacing your transmission can be one of the most expensive repairs you may have to make on your vehicle. Maintaining your transmission according to your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations, not only prolongs its life but it can prevent a costly repair or breakdown in the future.

To help maintain a safe and constant operating temperature, your vehicle uses transmission fluid to cool and lubricate the moving parts. The fluid reduces the amount of potentially damaging heat inside the transmission and helps increase the life of this important system.

Because some of the ingredients in the transmission fluid break down over time due to this heat, many vehicle manufacturers recommend the fluid be replaced at specified maintenance intervals. Check your Manuel or check with us to find out when to replace your fluid.

Call today for a check up!
