Gas-Saving Tips for Your Auto - Repair in wellington Utah

C.A.R.S. = Gas saving Tips for your travels.

Gas-Saving Tips for Your Auto

Whatever your motivation, here are some gas saving tips

Keep your engine "tuned up." A well-maintained engine operates at peak efficiency, maximizing gas mileage. Follow the service schedules listed in the owner's manual. Replace filters and fluids as recommended; have engine performance problems (rough idling, poor acceleration, etc.) corrected at a repair facility.

Monitor tires. Under inflated tires or poorly aligned wheels waste fuel by forcing the engine to work harder. (Let the tires cool down before checking the air pressure.) Out-of-line wheels, as evidenced by uneven tread wear, should be aligned by a professional.  ( CARS can do Alignments )

Remove excess weight. Remove unnecessary items from the vehicle. Store only essentials in the trunk. Less weight means better mileage.

Consolidate trips and errands. Some trips may be unnecessary. Also, try to travel when traffic is light so you can avoid stop-and-go conditions.

Avoid excessive idling. Shut off the engine while waiting for friends and family.

Observe speed limits. Speeding decreases your miles per gallon.

Drive gently. Sudden accelerations guzzle gas. Anticipate traffic patterns ahead and adjust your speed gradually.

Use windows and air conditioning wisely. Your mileage should improve if you keep the windows closed at highway speeds, since air drag is reduced. This is true even with the air conditioning on-assuming that the system is in good working order. But turn the air conditioning off in stop-and-go traffic to save fuel.

These conservation tips should not only save gasoline, they'll help extend the life of your vehicle. Win-win, indeed.

Tires = Price & Helper Utah Auto Repair

#C.A.R.S

CARS TIRES

Tire pressure is a measure of the amount of air in a vehicle's tires, in pounds per square inch. The required service involves checking the tires' pressure with a pressure gauge, at least monthly, if not more frequently. But then you knew that.

Why do I have to do this?     Having the proper tire pressure is a crucial safety issue. Next to the brakes, the tires are the most important safety devices on your car. Incorrect tire pressure will compromise cornering, braking and stability. And in the worst-case scenario, improper tire pressure can lead to tire failure — and a serious accident. Incorrect tire pressure also will affect your comfort, fuel economy and tire life.

What happens if I don't do this?     If tire pressure is too high, then less of the tire touches the ground. As a consequence, your car will bounce around on the road. And when your tires are bouncing instead of firmly planted on the road, traction suffers and so do your stopping distances. You'll also feel a decrease in ride comfort. (Hint: If you notice that every tie you own has coffee on it, check your tire pressure. It may be too high.)

C.A.R.S. Tire Pressure:

Most vehicles list tire pressure requirements on one of the door posts, most often the driver's.

If tire pressure is too low, then too much of the tire's surface area touches the ground, which increases friction between the road and the tire. As a result, not only will your tires wear prematurely, but they also could overheat. Overheating can lead to tread separation — and a nasty accident. One sign of low tire pressure is if your tires squeal when cornering.

You need to check your tire pressure even if your tires aren't leaking. Why? Because tire pressure also changes with the temperature outside. Tire pressure decreases by about 1 pound per square inch for every 10-degree drop in outside air temperature. So if you last had your tire pressure checked in July, when it was 80 degrees outside, and it's now January — and the temperature is minus 20 — your tires may be underinflated by 10 pounds, which is dangerous.

Tire Rotation:     We know that all tires rotate. But we're talking about another kind of rotation — rotating tires to different corners of the car and maybe even reversing the direction in which they turn.
Many tires are rotated front-to-back and side-to-side, but some tires are directional, which means they're only supposed to turn in one direction. They have to stay on the same side of the car. Directional tires often have arrows on the tire's sidewall to show you the direction in which they should turn.

If you're not sure which kind of tires you have, check with your mechanic.

Should I do this service when it's recommended?
The financial benefit of rotating tires is that you'll increase the useful life of the tire. Instead, you can ask your mechanic to rotate your tires when they're already off your car for another service, such as a brake repair. th
ey may do it for Less.

Gas-Saving Tips for Your Auto
The recent price of gasoline has made even the most wasteful people think twice about wasting gas.
Given today's high-tech engines, it's wise to have this type of work done by auto technicians who are ASE certified in engine performance.
Monitor tires. Under inflated tires or poorly aligned wheels waste fuel by forcing the engine to work harder. (Let the tires cool down before checking the air pressure.) Out-of-line wheels, as evidenced by uneven tread wear, should be aligned by a professional.

Happy New Year from C.A.R.S. = Complete Auto Repair Service

Happy New Year

http://www.carsbellingham.com
We would like to wish you and yours a wonderful 2026 full of Peace, Health, and Happiness.  We hope you got to spend the end of 2025 with friends and family and enjoy them all year through in 2026.

“What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us.” Helen Keller

We  are now headed into the New Year  of 2026, should you need any help with your vehicle Please get in touch.
 (435) 637 5337
This is a list of some things you should check and get fixed so you will be ready when you want to pack up and head for the snow!

Batteries are much weaker in cold weather, so keep your vehicle’s battery fully charged.

Brakes  should be checked and serviced if necessary. Even braking on all four wheels will lessen the chance of skids on slippery roads.

•Make sure your vehicle’s exhaust system has no leaks. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer and can accumulate quickly in closed vehicles.

•Make sure your wiper blades are in good condition. Keep the windshield washer reservoir filled with antifreeze solvent.

•Check the radiator, heater core and all hoses that carry anti-freeze solution to see that they are in good condition and free of leaks. Also check to see that the solution is good to at least 40 below zero.

•Make sure you have winter weight oil (usually 5W-30) in the engine.

Tires should have M+S or All Season tread and be in good condition.

Emergencies can happen when you least expect them, so be sure to carry a winter survival kit in your vehicle.

Since Winter time is known to be slow months at Auto Repair Shops it is a good time to set up Apt. for Auto Repairs and Projects. One such project could be
Mufflers and Exhaust
1. What is a muffler?
A muffler is a device that is part of your vehicle’s exhaust system. The function of a muffler is to reduce the amount of noise that comes from your vehicle’s engine. The design of the muffler includes steel pipes with chambers inside that have been tuned like an instrument to reflect and cancel most of the noise coming from your engine.
2. What are the benefits of using a high performance muffler?
Not only do high performance mufflers reduce the amount of noise your car makes, they also help increase the efficiency, power output and the performance of your engine. High performance mufflers reduce the amount of back pressure in the exhaust system allowing the engine to work more efficiently. If you really want to give your vehicle a jump start, you should choose a muffler pipe that is larger in diameter and has better air intake like a “cold air intake” style.
3. What types of mufflers are there?

ExhaustExhaust Mufflers

Some of our products include: FlowMaster
Dyno Max
Magna Flow
4. How do I know which type of muffler will be best for me?
Most people don’t have a lot of knowledge about mufflers which is why most people feel a little confused and overwhelmed when choosing a muffler for their vehicle. That is where we come in. We have the knowledge and skills to best help you make your decision. We take the time to find out which type of muffler will more than meet your needs. We want our customers to know that we are here and eager to answer any question or concern you may have.
5. How do I know if I need to repair or replace my muffler?
That is a good question. If your muffler is leaking, been bent or become rusted, chances are it is time for it to be replaced. We are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the condition of your muffler.

Breaking in Winter

Breaking in Winter:

Visit Complete Auto Repair Service = CARS and let us help you halt cold weather brake problems in their tracks. We can diagnose your car problems with a Complete Vehicle Inspection, and recommend brake services.

Snow quickly becomes liquid when it comes into contact with a warm snow which becomes rust.   Salt accelerates the rusting process.

Some degree of surface rust is unavoidable, too much rust on your brake rotors can cause a problem known as pitting, waring away at your brake rotors, leaving them scored and rough, which allows rust particles to contaminate the brake pads.

The first signs of wear are: weird sounds, ( squeal, squeak ) reduced stopping power, and stiff braking , or "sluggish" "lose power" feeling when you take your foot off the brake pedal, and a burning smell.

If you notice any of these it might be time for a check up and New Tires.

Stop by CARS and let us make sure your car is in good running order with at tune up and check for winter safety.

Clutch Repair in Utah at CARS Complete Auto Repair Service

The clutch in your vehicle works by applying force against a flywheel mated to your engine using a clutch disc and pressure plate. The clutch is made of friction material and is designed to "grab" the flywheel as it turns.
Over time, your clutch disc will wear down and begin to slip. When this happens, you will have trouble accelerating in any gear because the clutch will lose the ability to "grab" the flywheel. At this point, the clutch disc will need to be fixed.

Check Engine Light - What it means CARS Complete Auto Repair Service

Check Engine Light -
What the light means and what to do if it comes on.
What The Light Means
      1) Onboard Diagnostics (OBD)
          A)  This controls and monitors your vehicle performance - such as engine speed,  (RPM)
fuel mixture, ignition timing. The computer also tells the automatic transmission when to shift.
          B)  When the computer finds a problem it can't correct, it turns on a light that is labeled

                 "engine, or Service engine"
        C)  When the light come on the computer has stored a "trouble code" in its memory that
that identifies the source of the problem. (such as - malfunctioning sensor or a
               misfiring engine.

 D)   This is then read with an electronic scan tool or a Diagnostic computer.

What to do
If the 'check engine" light comes on it will either blink or remain constant, depending on the problem.  But it means it is time to get your car/truck checked.

      1)   In late - model cars it usually indicates a misfire that can be burning up your fuel dumping it into your exhaust system.( Have car or truck looked at a.s.a.p.)
*This can quickly damage your catalytic converter- requiring expensive repair.
     2) If the light is steady - Just schedule and appointment  - not usually an emergency.

Today's automotive computers often try to compensate when there's a problem; so you may not notice deterioration in performance, even though your fuel mileage is suffering and your vehicle is emitting levels
of hydrocarbons & pollutants.

Tips if you Check Engine Light Comes On
     1) Check your dashboard lights / gauges for
           A)     Low oil pressure
           B)     Overheating
These conditions mean you should pull over and shut off the engine a.s.a.p. in a safe
                      place.
On most cars - Yellow "check engine" means investigate - giving you time to
                             investigate and schedule an appointment.
          C)     Try tightening your gas cap. ( keep in mind, it may take several trips before the light
                    resets.
          D)     Reduce speed and load.  If  the 'check engine" light is blinking or you notice any serious
*Performance problems, such as a loss of power, reduced speed.  Reduce your speed & try to reduce the load ( if your towing a trailer) on the engine.  ( make an appointment  to have code read)

The best advice is to read your owner's manual beforehand and learn the purpose of the "check engine" light and every other gauge and warning indicator on your dashboard.
